The first black metal album I ever owned, and I still listen to it every so often, it really does have a hypnotizing atmosphere as the reviewer indicates, quite unparalleled in that respect by anything else from it's era. Genius.

One of the greatest albums of all metal and a massive inspiration for many of the greatest black metal artists of the last decade; Xasthur, Shining, Leviathan, Hypothermia, and many more! Even I myself take great influence from Burzum in my own project /m/

Hvis Lyset tar Oss is an amazing achievement,a master piece.Varg Vikernes greatest album.i will pick Det Som En Gang Var,for when the times comes for my departure away from this earth.So it shall be written so it shall be done.

Can't describe what i am feeling when i listen to this, its so deep, hypnotising and fulfilling. It touchs my soul!

A brilliant album, one of the all time greats. Track 1 would have to be in the top 10 black metal songs of all time - possibly the top 5.

The synths on this record gives this album such a unique, cold and mysterious atmosphere. Truly one of the greatest black metal records ever made.

An album like this has never been done, and will never be done again. The closest album to this is Filosofem. This is what makes it such a jewel.
