Even Louis Vierne would be proud of "Portrait Of The Dead Countess", once occurred to me the meaning of this song as a whole for the concept of the album. While the previous track "Bathory Aria" recounts the last years of miss Bathory confinement and also express it musically, all the melancholy mixed memories and daydreams, the return of lucidity and resigned to death at the end of the song, all is suddenly replaced with an absence of pain, absense of life wich is the same, then we face the exact moment when the Countess expires, "Portrait" begins.

...Simply brilliant! The apex of the band followed very very closely by Dusk And Her Embrace. Although there is an effort here regarding the production and complexity in implementing the ideas, details, nuances such as due to mastering of the guitars the initial of "A Desire In Violent Overture" worked so well, would be a mess if used in the recording of Dusk for exemple. These guys had more talent than 99.9% of the BM bands in the mid 90's which justifies all the frenzy and of course the consequent success.

Cruelty is a classic in every sense, unique and unforgettable experience.
