Along with Mayhem's 'De Mysteriis...', the *blackest* metal that's ever been.

I realised that I neglected to rate this in my prior comment. While I'm at it, I'll say that 'Under a Funeral Moon' is so skeletal, so minimalist, so stripped of everything but pure black metal, that it could never be anything but an absolutely mandatory point of worship for all with even a passing interest in this genre. However, presentation aside, the songs themselves, in a vacuum without regard for historical significance, are astounding. Riffs of absurd simplicity - two- and even one-note phrases abound - end up being among the most memorable of the genre, while much of the structure is bizarre and off-kilter and ultimately hold the listener's attention for infinite plays.

I like this more then A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Transilvanian Hunger
Which says alot considering both those albums are Great!

Buy this milestone of Northern Black Metal!!!

How to Black Metal 101
Ted's Vocal performance and fenriz' drumming is at their best on this record.

The best Black metal album of all time. it should at least be in top 5.

It remains a true icon of Black Metal, perhaps one of the very best albums of the genre ever because it's an archetype in itself, self-defining.

Another masterpiece from Darkthrone!
