Putting this at the bottom of any list is questionable, this album is phenomenal - set the standard that all Black Metal Swedes were to follow for years to come.

The best melodic black metal album ever, a truly masterpiece of black art. All fans of extreme metal must hear this album!!!

Norway have "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". The only record from Sweden that can compete with that is "Storm of the Light's Bane".

Got this on release day in 1995, didn't think they could outdo "The Somberlain". But they did!! Everything is improved compared with their previous album.

Even though it's at a praiseworthy 94%, I feel that this album isn't rated highly enough. This would be in the top three or four black metal albums of all time, and more like a 98%. It's one of those albums that lives in a world of its own and you can step into the world every time you put the album on.

If I had to chose one album to demonstrate the best parts of black metal, then this album would cover all the bases.

If you are new and have not heard this album yet then it’s worth your time. It has been around for many years now but it’s as relevant now as it was back in the 90’s.

To me it’s like the perfect fusion of death and black metal. There’s a reason it’s held in such high regard and it is worthy of being on this list.

R.I.P Jon.

when someone asks me what black metal albums to listen to, this masterpiece is always on the list. Such an amazing album, will always love it.
