this was the first black metal album I ever listened to, and it still blows me away to this day

Quite possibly my favourite album, at least of the symphonic variety. Even now it sends chills down my spine :D Although I should probably investigate more of the "epic" albums on this site, there seems to be quite a variety and I'm sure I'll find some great stuff, like Evilfeast and Kataxu, as mentioned by the review.

This album has everything that was after him
Unlike his colleagues in the genre Emperor gracefully veiled scandinavian folklore motifs, drowning and diluted arrangements styled close to classical music

Beautifully done, and their covers of Bathory and Mercyful Fate are just perfect. Easily one of the best black metal bands of all time!

O melhor álbum de Black Metal que existe! E não vai existir outro melhor ou parecido! Bah! Perfeito!

Great album, the slow part of 'I am the black wizards' still gives me goose bumps 20 years on !

The classic and old black metal

This is a majestic work that has such an incredible atmosphere it will never be, and never can be, repeated. The images of snow covered northern forests under the stars.

Highly memorable, symphonic black metal masterpiece.

Emperor's "In the Nightside Eclipse" is considered the genre-defining album
for black metal. It certainly has all the right ingredients for good black metal. Heavy riffing, sinister keyboars snaking between the guitar lines, hard drumming, shrieky incoherent vocals that sound like they're coming from the seventh level of hell, and lyrics in praise of Satan. And unlike many other black metal releases
that employ keyboards, this album uses them sparingly.

Although some songs in the middleof the album are a bit generic but still a fantastic album with the Best album cover of all time!

Each song illustrates a stage in a journey to a darker form of enlightenment, from journeying through the mountains and forests to fulfilling the goal of becoming a dark wizard in service of the dark lord himself.

Classic, beautiful, old black metal! Always an amazing listen. Everything about this album is great! Love it so much. One of my favourite old black metal albums!!!!!!!
