I am doing a personal project and working on compiling lesser-known 90's black metal records after picking up Odium - The Sad Realm of the Stars. I threw the disc on, was shocked that I had never heard it before, and found it quite amazing.

Any suggestions on underrated, unknown, or lesser-known 90's black metal that is essential would be appreciated.

Hi,

always interesting hearing some suggestions on records which may sound somewhat familiar, yet remain for some reason unnoticed by the majority of BM adepts.

The question inevitably leads to endless discussions on what defiines a record as a 'hidden gem', for it balances on records who are not too well-known, excluding almost all classics, and showing some recognition and appreciation to a significant part of us, excluding the endless stream of all obscure releases ...

Yet, looking at my own collection and wishlist, here some suggestions:

Kvist - For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike
Fleurety - Min Tid Skal Komme
Godkiller - Rebirth of The Middle Ages
Manes - Under Ein Blodraud Maane
Moonblood - Blut & Krieg
Nastrond - Toteslaut
Gorgon - The Lady Rides a Black Horse
The Black - Priest of Satan
Ungod - Circle of Seven Infernal Pacts
Varatrhon - His Majesty at the Swamps
Ancient Rites - The Diabolical Serenades
Mütilation - Vampires of Black Imperial Blood
Bergthron - Verborgen in den Tiefen der Wälder...
