The Finnish black metal band Siimes has just released a brand-new music video for the track "Verellä Verhottu Polku," taking the viewer deep into the dark and intense story of a satanist’s lifelong journey.

“We wanted to create a visual piece that complements our music and combines two art forms—music and video—into one cohesive whole,” says the band’s vocalist, Kyy. There are no shots of playing instruments in the video to keep the focus on storytelling and allow it to fully concentrate on atmosphere and symbolism.

The video was produced by professionals and filmed in the spring of 2024. It visually supports the song’s theme and narrative in a compelling and cinematic way.

“The planning and production of the 10-minute-long video centered around carefully selected locations and meticulously constructed sets, allowing us to focus on detailed storytelling and visual depth,” the vocalist adds.

Siimes' music contains familiar elements of Finnish black metal but strays from the traditional formula. The song structures are somewhat more complex, and influences can be heard from Icelandic and French black metal as well.

“The moods typical of our music are a sense of melancholy, anxiety, and darkness,” says Siimes' composer-guitarist Varjosielu.

Siimes' new music video is now available on YouTube. Later in October, the band will release the Verellä Verhottu Polku CD, which will include the video track as well as the previously digitally released Näkyjä Pimeydessä EP.
