Nihilistic Black Metal.

Human Serpent is one of the most underrated acts in the Greek scene. They have one of the most consistent discographies ever, and their music is very unique on all their releases (in a way that you can feel every type of influence from anything, from 80s old school Black Metal or 90s Hellenic Black Metal or 2000s Finnish Black Metal!)

Their first release, although not their finest, is still a fantastic album from start to finish. The overall sound is extremely raw and minimalistic, which gives a fantastic angry, misanthropic feeling to it. Most of the songs by this band are mid or fast-paced tremolo picking when it comes to the guitar work, but in a very unique way! You can feel a lot of early Gorgoroth riffs, mixed with the more melodic Finnish acts like Horna. The most unique aspect of this band is the fact that they manage to merge a lot of Burzum-like melancholy into this angry and fast songwriting style.

Even though they don't sound similar to the usual Hellenic bands and the whole Greek sound, they somehow manage to improve the already perfected Norwegian and Finnish sound!

As for the songs, they are all perfect, and I won't even try to talk about highlights. The production is just perfect and the performances are tight.

Overall, this is a fantastic start for a fantastic band to come. It's very nearly perfect, but it's nothing compared to what came after this!
