1 Review for 'Isengard - Traditional Doom Cult''Traditional Doom Cult'
The doom-y side of Fenriz!
Well, as this is just a promo single for the next album, I won't write a whole review.
The first song is an obvious homage to Black Sabbath. Even though the guitar tone is a bit loose, it's still a very badass riff indeed, traditional Doom Metal at its finest. Fenriz' vocal style also kills it on this one.
It's the second song that is worth talking about. Holy shit, this sounds 80s as fuck. The attitude of the vocals is really good, but the recording and mixing are not perfectly synced. But what does it matter when the riffs are this good! It starts with a slow paced, doomy riff, and then it starts to change in a very progressive way, and becomes very catchy at some points.
All in all, I would recommend the second song for "Høstmørke" enjoyers, but the first song is full on Doom Metal and not Black Metal in the old school way. A very enjoyable listen though!
