Descent into the infernal abyss

What can be said about this album. It is truly an underrated masterpiece. There is nothing similar to it especially due to the use of an 8-string bass instead of a rythm guitar makes it unique. The Magus is propably the forefather of the greek metal scene since he participates in numerous major releases and has produced even more and with this album his role as the main figure of the greek scene is established.

Released 2 years after its debut predecessor Crossing the Fiery Path, Scarlet Evil Witching Black is its natural continuation. Each song is deeply atmospheric and feels like diving to the dark abyss. Even the faster songs like Devilskin for example are clouded with keyboards which create a ritualistic effect to all the songs when used. There are simply no bad moments in this album. Even the "Arcane Light of Hecate" which feels like an actual ritual performed for the goddess brings chills and is an important piece for the wholeness of the album. My personal favorite "The Serpent and The Pentagram" is menacing and jumps back and forth from ritualistic atmospheres to hellish riffs, or more accurately basslines with great ease.

In conclusion Scarlet Evil Witching Black is a hidden gem of Occult Black Metal, with a unique sound and an amazing album that every fan of the genre should give it a listen.

this is great, I'm glad I bought this one!

The best greek metal album ever.End of the story

I kind of get a Budgie feel from these guys! I love how they split the Bass and Guitar on left and right like Budgie did. Such a unique sound! It's a pretty traditional sounding BM, ide say more up in the Symphonic region more so. Great Album!

Great album and a unique sound!
