We have updated the way the albums are classified by musical style and sub genre.

The latest update to our website includes an easier to understand genre classification system. From now on, Black / Thrash albums are now correctly represented by the "Thrash" label, and all traditional Black Metal albums (by today's standards) are now represented by the "Second Wave" label to indicate that their sound either pertains to or shares similarities with the Second Wave of Black Metal.

Furthermore, we have added the "Death" label for all albums with Death Metal influences, and last but not least we have added the "Experimental" label to indicate that an album features either Progressive, Avant-Garde, Post-Black Metal, Psychedelic or any other elements that can be considered noticeably "experimental" when it comes to Black Metal.

Just in case anybody is still confused by this, we have added an explication tool-tip popup next to each album's genre. This appears as a faded question-mark icon which will show the popup when you hover your mouse over it.

We will not be expanding further on the genres in any considerable way in the near future because we think it is best to keep things as simple as possible and prevent all the endless potential subgenres and labels from cluttering things up. We think this not only applies to our website but should also apply to the Black Metal community as a whole, especially when it comes to all things "Experimental".

Blackmetal is meant to be underground even in fuckin´internet, if anyone likes it he will listen to it naturally in LP or CD or demo-tape or 7´´ep.
