Next year's edition will mark the festival's 15th anniversary, featuring more than 350 bands and scheduled over 7 days.
The organizers of France's premier metal festival, Hellfest, have recently revealed their ambitious plans for next year's event. The 2022 edition of Hellfest, not only to celebrate the festival's 15th anniversary but also to make up for the fact that the 2020 and 2021 editions had to be cancelled, will span a total of seven days and feature over 350 bands.
The 2022 edition will be split in two halves, with the first half taking place on the 17th, 18th and 19th of June, while the second half will place over four days between the 23rd and 26th of June, serving as the "extension".
Literally Every Fucking Band will be there, including a plethora of Black Metal acts, such as Rotting Christ, Mayhem, Marduk, Taake, Mercyful Fate, Watain, Primordial, Abbath, Mgła, Gaahl's Wyrd, Borknagar, Arcturus, Moonsorrow, Kampfar, Enslaved, Moonspell, Myrkur, Archgoat, Ihsahn, Alcest and Vreid, to name but a few.
German Thrash legends Kreator and Destruction, as well as Neofolk acts such as Wardruna and Heilung, will also be making an appearance.
Check out the complete line-up and approximate schedule (subject to change, of course) below:
And, in case your attention span has deteriorated over the last 12 months, here's the line-up again in video format:
Hellfest is held every summer almost every summer in the commune of Clisson, near the western coast of France, and is one of the main events in the European summer metal festival calendar. Ticket sales for the 2022 edition are going live on the 6th and 7th of July, and you can find out more info on the official website:
