The new album, titled "Let There Be Witchery", will be released on the 4th of March via Metal Blade Records.
Old School Black Metal act Midnight have just revealed the details for the project's upcoming full-length album, which is to be titled "Let There Be Witchery", and scheduled for release on the 4th of March through Metal Blade Records. Leading up to the release, the label has now made the album's closing track "Szex Witchery" available for listening:
"Let There Be Witchery" will mark the project's fifth full-length album, and features the following tracklist:
- Telepathic Nightmare
- Frothing Foulness
- In Sinful Secrecy
- Nocturnal Molestation
- More Torment
- Let There Be Sodomy
- Devil Virgin
- Snake Obsession
- Villainy Wretched Villainy
- Szex Witchery
The label commented briefly on the album's development process:
The title is a combination of the song titles "Let There Be Sodomy" and "Szex Witchery", Athenar wanting to maintain the tradition of using six syllables. Lyrically, the record is "unfiltered savage animalisticness", and the deeper the listener delves, the dirtier they get, which is just the way it should be.
When it came to tracking the record, Athenar returned to Mercenary Studios in Cleveland, OH and producer Noah Buchanan, who makes it very easy for him to cut loose and make noise, choosing to once again record all the instruments himself despite having a live band that could step in and help out. "It’s still just me and my science project gone awry. I realize I’m musically handicapped, but there’s a charm to it."
Here's a closer look at the artwork, as designed by William Lacey, who also created the cover art for all four of Midnight's previous full-length albums:
