Kings of Black IV: Immortal
In the fourth installment of our "Kings of Black" series of articles, we take a close look at the career of none other than Immortal.
This week we expand our Kings of Black series of articles by taking an in-depth look at the career of Immortal, one of the most influential, revered and highly respected Black Metal bands of all time.
Tracing their roots back to Norway's early Death Metal scene in the late 80's, Immortal gradually shifted towards Black Metal in the early 90's, and over the next 13 years continued on an unstoppable path of musical excellence and evolution, avoiding the controversy that revolved around their Norwegian peers, and releasing multiple landmark Black Metal albums before splitting up in 2003.

Returning to our "Kings of Black" series of articles, this week we check out Emperor, one of the Norwegian pioneers and the band that single-handedly created a whole sub-genre by themselves.
In our third installment of the Kings of Black series, we take a closer look at one of the pioneers of Norwegian Black Metal and the architects of Symphonic Black Metal, Emperor.
Since their creation in 1991 until their dissolution in 2001, Emperor have proven to be not only one of the key progenitors of the Second Wave of Black Metal that originated in Norway, but also one of the most inspirational, with their influence being found within the music of literally thousands of Symphonic Black Metal bands across the globe.

Throughout their 25 year history Darkthrone have released a total of 14 full length studio albums, as well as 4 demos and numerous compliation albums, including some of the genre's most influential and revered works such as "A Blaze in the Northern Sky", "Under a Funeral Moon" and "Transilvanian Hunger".
