Every Friday the new releases at Hells Headbangers come out. I look forward to it all week in hopes I can score something new for my collection. Not long ago I was scrolling through the vinyl section and the very last entry was this album by Zaklon. I'd never heard of this band before but something made me stop and check it out. I can't explain it. Just a feeling I had but over the years I've learned to trust my instincts. I looked up the band ...

Native American history perfectly lends itself to the ethos of black metal. Full of violence, tragedy, hardship, stolen land and culture, relegated to reservations and forgotten. Complete degradation by white America. But through it all Native Americans have managed to maintain some of their traditions and customs. Including a love and appreciation for nature. I first heard of Blackbraid in Decibel magazine who ranked this album at #4 on their ...

Anyone familiar with Necros Christos knows that their albums require patience and attention. The shortest LP being their debut Triune Impurity Rights which comes in at just under an hour. Several of it's 27 songs are intros, chants, preludes, and atmospheres. Which sounds like it ...

Although the first two albums were great in their own right, they weren't the albums that made me fall in love with the band. I discovered this band in 2018 with this incredible album, and then listened to the previous two albums retrospectively. As I ...

You can't talk about Austrian Black Metal without mentioning the name "ABIGOR"! This band is arguably one of the first pioneers of the more technical side of Black Metal that we have today. Their 90s albums are classics by all means, but after the late 90s, they started to be full-on experimental, and made some albums which can only be described as "Technical Black Metal"! I have to be honest, I didn't dig any of the post-"Channeling the ...

Let's face it ... all who favour BM have to a stronger of lesser degree a certain love for the artwork that is inextricable connected to genre from the very beginning of it. One says to not judge a book by its cover. Which it true. And yet, the very cover or artwork shapes the context in which an ... |
