Satyricon a legendary band... I didn't have the fortune to see him live... I don't like all that. What to say about his debut... An album that generates a nostalgia in me that transports me to medieval times, a cold and dark atmosphere from the first iconic piece (Walk the Path of Sorrow) that gives me goosebumps. ..and those voices, instrumentation and gloomy environment, acoustic guitars, could be perfect, it doesn't bore me at all.

This is the third album by Misthyrming. These guys arrived in 2015 fully formed and ready to dominate with their debut album Songvar Elds og Oreidu which I believe translates to songs of fire and chaos. My Icelandic is a little rusty. Anyway the album went criminally unnoticed then which is not surprising given the glut of excellent releases that year by more established names. As I mentioned in some previous reviews, there has never been a good Iranian Extreme Metal scene. Over the years, there have been some tiny dots on the Extreme Metal map of Iran, but mostly, they have been rather generic and uninspired efforts, which is quite annoying for me! Years ago, I came across this band's debut album, "Métal Noir Québécois", and I absolutely loved the old school 90s sound on it. I especially liked the way they created this old school high-pitched and intense tremolo-picked riffing, which has an unusual calming effect! (thanks in most part to the raw, blizzardy production).
