At first, when I was just starting to get into the world of Extreme Metal, I listened to Nemesis Divina but there was a detail, I didn't like it in any way... I was so wrong, too much!! Some time ago I listened to it again to give it a chance... I felt the magic of the album from start to finish with some lyrics that talk about the arrival of Christianity in Norway, destroying all belief, and with the arrival of death to unknown lands Ending with ...

Another masterpiece? It will be? That's what I wonder... I began to think too much about which would be better between Dark Medieval Times or The Shadowthrone, after thinking about it too much I prefer Dark Medieval Times but, but, but... The Shadowthrone has something special, I love the beginning (Hvite Krists Død ) very heavy and epic at the same time, but I also have a small problem with the album, only two songs seemed overwhelming to me, I ...

Satyricon a legendary band... I didn't have the fortune to see him live... I don't like all that. What to say about his debut... An album that generates a nostalgia in me that transports me to medieval times, a cold and dark atmosphere from the first iconic piece (Walk the Path of Sorrow) that gives me goosebumps. ..and those voices, instrumentation and gloomy environment, acoustic guitars, could be perfect, it doesn't bore me at all.

This is the third album by Misthyrming. These guys arrived in 2015 fully formed and ready to dominate with their debut album Songvar Elds og Oreidu which I believe translates to songs of fire and chaos. My Icelandic is a little rusty. Anyway the album went criminally unnoticed then which is not surprising given the glut of excellent releases that year by more established names. But make no mistake the album crushed (review forthcoming). Four ...

A year after their exceptional enterance into the world of underground metal, DSS released their second demo, titled "Temple of Heat". It continues the same trajectory as the previous effort, with some minor differences.
Firstly, the production is a tad bit too old school on this album. It almost feels like they were trying too hard to achieve a certain 80s sound and they overdid it! I'm not sure which production they were aiming for, but this ...

As I mentioned in some previous reviews, there has never been a good Iranian Extreme Metal scene. Over the years, there have been some tiny dots on the Extreme Metal map of Iran, but mostly, they have been rather generic and uninspired efforts, which is quite annoying for me! I think we should definitely have our own identity in Extreme Music.
This band is not that "Black" if i'm going to be frankly honest with you. Their music is mostly ...

Years ago, I came across this band's debut album, "Métal Noir Québécois", and I absolutely loved the old school 90s sound on it. I especially liked the way they created this old school high-pitched and intense tremolo-picked riffing, which has an unusual calming effect! (thanks in most part to the raw, blizzardy production).
However; after a couple more listens, I found it quite derivative, and unoriginal. It was 90s Norwegian Black Metal to ...

The second Wayfarer album pretty much continues where the debut left off. The lyrical themes, the vocals, the rhythm section, are all pretty much the same as before, however; there are some minor changes. The guitar sound is a tiny bit higher in the mix, and the overall guitar tone is a bit more gritty and thicker compared with the previous effort. The song lengths are pretty much shorter than before (thankfully!), there are only two songs that ...

Symphonic Black Metal Is NOT Dead!

Symphonic Black Metal is arguably the biggest divisive little moment in Black Metal history. The veterans and the fans have always been telling us that this progression with added keyboards and added atmosphere was unnecessary, and that they didn't "take Black Metal further" as they claimed!
As for me, I think some of the earlier symphonic works were very nice, but after some time they took it to a ridiculous level! With the exception of a ...
