Chaotic Psychedelic Torture!

If you like the Avant-garde sound of bands like Oranssi Pazuzu or Deathspell Omega, you might find this album very interesting. Be advised tough, you may fail to find the appeal of this album on the first listen! So please listen to it at least twice!

Skáphe's previous efforts were extremely chaotic and complex at some points, but with this album they managed to make something even more extreme and chaotic, with a more progressive and artistic approach.

This album doesn't work like normal albums, where there are some songs that are related to each other. Here the songs are connected on a fantastic basis. The whole package almost sounds like an epic movie (without any pictures obviously!), so talking about a certain part or song is pointless (by the way, the themes and the story behind this album are very much connected to the previous releases, so definitely check those out too), but as a whole package, the atmosphere is very much desperate and misanthropic! There is little sense of melody and harmony here, instead we have a fantastic reverb-stenched ambient soundscape on the guitar front.

The best moment here is by far the epic closer of the album, "Rebirth Synthesis". Towards the end of this song we have a fantastically dramatic and desolate soundscape that is almost hypnotic!

Overall, this album is a fantastic way of experimentalism, with fantastic, eerie and hopeless soundscapes. If you like the old school way of Black Metal you should probably avoid this, but if you like a bit of experimentation, you should definitely check this masterpiece.
