Phenomenal album that blew us all away when we heard it, and some of it still stands up to scrutiny today (the Darkthrone–inspired yet innovative ‘Soelen gaaer bag Aase need’). Hell, the Gregorian style vocals with that fabulous reverb was still influencing Enslaved years later when they released Mardraum.

This majestic album brings me the fondest memories :) Memories of another era before I was born, if you know what I mean.

One of the best black metal experiences right here

Absolutely beautiful! A flawless combination of folk and black metal /m/

still head and shoulders above 99% of black metal albums

An incredible album that makes even more sense when listened too along with 'Kveldssanger' and 'Nattens Madrigal'. You could take this trilogy, and the Darkthrone trilogy, to a desert island and you'd be pretty content.

Whats offered here is 5 songs of great music, its raw, its melodic and its carries
the listener all the way through its 34 minutes without sounding dragged or tired.

The listener is treated to flowing riffs, pounding drums, rumbling bass, tough
guitars, acoustic guitars, grim vocals and brilliant clean vocals. All the
elements necesary to create a metal masterpiece are present and impressively
performed here on Ulver's 1st full-length album!
